2012 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN RIDERS

Licensing and Participation in Cycling Events in South Africa.

As of 1 January 2011, all South African cyclists participating in any cycling event in South Africa are required to be a member of Cycling South Africa (CSA) to be able to participate in events, as well as belong to a cycling club affiliated to CSA, or an affiliate of CSA (of which PPA is one).  CSA licenses are valid for the full calendar year of 2012. Alternatively, you will be required to buy a one-day CSA event licence (R35) for each event that you participate in. This is in accordance with new regulations instituted by the governing body of cycling in the country, Cycling South Africa (CSA).

In order to enter the 2012 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour, you have the following options:

1. Join/renew PPA

You can become a member of PPA (a CSA affiliate) in one of the following classes:

  • Country Membership – R140 which includes a CSA membership (value R75.00) allowing for participation in cycling events across SA. Upgradeable to a full PPA membership for additional PPA benefits should you move to the Western Cape.
  • Standard Membership – Please see the PPA website for full details and various membership classes.

As a PPA Country member, your benefits include:

  • Preferential seeding for the 2012 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour. You will start ahead of the open non-seeded groups  if you do not qualify for a seeded group;
  • A R30 discount off your entry fee for the 2012 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour;
  • No additional CSA day license fees;
  • Discounted entry fees for other events on the PPA funride calendar;
  • Other benefits as detailed on the PPA website.

As a standard PPA member, your benefits include:

  • Preferential seeding for the 2012 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour. You will start ahead of the open non-seeded groups  if you do not qualify for a seeded group;
  • A R30 discount off your entry fee for the 2012 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour;
  • No additional CSA day license fees;
  • Discounted entry fees for other events on the PPA funride calendar;
  • A membership card confirming your membership;
  • CSA membership, valid throughout South Africa;
  • Seeded number to wear at PPA fun rides;
  • Other benefits as detailed on the PPA website.

2. Pay for a 2012 CSA Membership (R75)

Pay for your annual CSA membership during the entry process and join or renew with a cycling club at a later stage. Note that your CSA license/membership will only be activated once you have also joined a CSA-affiliated cycling club in your province and your membership has been confirmed by your club on the CSA system.

3. Pay for a One-day event licence (R35)

These are licences issued to cyclists who are not members of either a club or association affiliated to Cycling South Africa and who wish to participate in an event. This licence is issued for use at ONE EVENT ONLY.
