Media Accreditation

2012 Media Accreditation

Due to the overwhelming number of applications for media accreditation in recent years, we’ve had to implement more stringent controls in order for it to run smoothly.

Before applying for media accreditation for any of the events that form part of the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Lifecycle Week, please carefully read through the information outlined below.  Please note that Lifecycle Week includes the following events:  Columbia Grape Escape; Cape Argus Pick n Pay Mountain Bike Challenge; Cape Argus Lifecycle Expo; Cape Argus Pick n Pay Tricycle and Junior Tours and the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour.

  • Media accreditation is not guaranteed.
    Due to the overwhelming national and international media interest over the past few years, accreditation will only be awarded to those journalists from recognised media houses that can guarantee relevant event publicity.  If you are a freelancer, we require a letter from a recognised media house confirming that you have been commissioned to write an article / produce a broadcast insert and providing details of the piece.
  • Only accredited press photographers will be granted media accreditation and photographers may only take pictures for use in their own publication. Under no circumstances may photographs taken at any of the Lifecycle Week events be sold.
  • No photographers or journalists will gain motorbike access to the route whilst the elite cyclists are racing. This is non-negotiable.
  • Please note that the Cycle Tour Media Office can supply visuals of all the Lifecycle Week events free of charge and are happy to do so. Exclusive use of images can be negotiated in consultation with the Media Office.

Media accreditation will allow you access to the Media Centre, where you can:

  • File your stories or photographs on one of the available laptops;
  • Access an accredited, rotational motorcycle to take you on the route at specific intervals and on a first come first served basis;
  • Look up the names of riders you may have photographed on the route;
  • Receive race results, hot off the press;
  • Conduct interviews in a sound-proof booth.

Please click here to download and complete the media accreditation form. Clearly indicate for which events you wish to apply for accreditation.

Note: Every journalist and photographer who wishes to receive media accreditation will need to complete and sign the form for accreditation to be processed. Please note that you will not be able to access any of the Cycle Tour or Lifecycle Week events – including the Columbia Grape Escape 3-day stage race and the Cape Argus Pick n Pay MTB Challenge routes – without media accreditation.

Please e-mail your completed form (including your signature) to the Media Office by no later than Monday, 20 February 2012 : media@cycletour.co.za

Feel free to contact the Cycle Tour Media Office on (+27)21 686 0222 should you require any additional information.
